We haven't been to the sea since last December! And even then, it was one night, in the dark, to see how much damage flooding and mud slides were causing...
A few weekends ago we stopped for a few hours on the way home from Tuscany in order to get the lay of the land and meet with some of the workers who are heading up the construction projects that eventually need to be done.
Come on down to La Caletta!
Down the first group of stairs... |
Now for the 2nd set of stairs... |
Onward down the 3rd group of stairs... |
Here we are on the 4th leg of stairs and nearing the end... |
Turn right to head down the last stretch of stairs.... |
And finally here we are! |
La Caletta's back garden |
La Caletta from the back - yes, you will note there are still more stairs... |
These stairs that lead to... |
Now watch your step we're nearly there... |
Yes, yes, you can see it now... |
The stairs lead right down to the sea! |
It is wonderful - even on a day of rough weather as it is today |
Imagine you can hear the waves crashing against the cliffs :) |
Sea Fever by John Masefield
I must down to the seas again,
to the lonely sea and the sky
and all I ask is a tall ship,
and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song
and the white sails shaking,
And the grey mist in the sea’s face,
and a grey dawn breaking.
I must go down to the seas again,
for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call
that may not be denied;
|
And all I ask is a windy day
with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume,
and the seagulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again,
to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale's way
where the wind’s like a whetted knife
And all I ask is a merry yarn
From a laughing fellow rover,
and quiet sleep and a sweet dream
when ere the long trip’s over
