On November 17th 2006 the Lord brought me & Z together in His love across an ocean and two continents. These are glimpses of our life together - the life of A&Z - much of which takes places in our Italian home with sixty-three stairs! Phil. 1:6
1 John 4:16
"We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him."

Z Saves the Day
So, we've been doing quite a bit of entertaining over these past few weeks... results? We're pretty exhausted. Add to that the fact that due to Z's HORRIBLE cold and cough neither of us managed to get many hours of sleep in last week.
That's all the preface for what's coming. Yesterday, we were preparing for dinner together with friends. Things were going very well. Zeno had just decided to jump out and take advantage of the gym, I was finishing up the Fennel soup and then going to take a quick cat-nap. All that was left was to puree the soup, so that's what I was doing, when, ThWap-SPlosh-FlWinG! It managed to EXPLODE EVERYWHERE!!!! At which, I burst into tears... Partly because it startled me to death, partly because it was HOT and splattered on my arm a bit, but mostly because I was tired and I immediately knew my chance to take a nap was gone...
Anyways, I went to Zeno for help because, as you can see, I was bit overwhelmed, and my marvelous Amore, gave me a big hug, grabbed the mop and a sponge and set right to work. He licked up that disaster in no time - walls, counter, floor, toaster, power converter, blender, etc and in the end I was able to grab that cat-nap and he made it to the gym!
So, though the walls came out clean, the dirty dishes stacked up high (also because, due to an infected finger I was forbidden from cleaning the dishes for a week!) and we didn't manage to wash them before dinner. They were our task today - Z conquered the mountain of dishes while I "took down Christmas".
Cleaning up Christmas
Today we finally had a free afternoon home and while Zeno worked on other projects… details forthcoming in another post, I managed to clean up all of our Christmas decorations!!!! So, since I didn’t get them on the blog before, here’s what I was cleaning up:
Now I'm ready, ready, ready for Spring!!! Bring on the colors, the warm weather and the fresh inspiration of feeling everything around you becoming new!

Snowborading Bombardino
Monday was a holiday and we had the chance to go skiing for the first time this year!!! Actually, it was Zeno on skis and I was on a board. The snow was so fun, and we had great rentals so it was FANTASTIC! I felt like I must be a blur as I flew down the mountain – such exhilaration!!!!
At the end of the day, you know, when your muscles are all sore (at least ours were since we haven’t been hitting the gym and it was our first time on the mountain), we stopped together with the rest of our group and had a special Mountain drink to warm us up. I’d set my eyes on it the year before and asked Z,
“What is that!?!?? It looks fantastic – like warm custard in a cup topped with a tremendous dollop of whipped cream. YUM!”
I ended up putting off the experience until now because I was told it was a mountain drink intended to warm you up – because it’s hot and has a bit of Rum. I felt I wanted to ‘earn’ it first. Well, Monday I felt I’d earned it I was so pleased with our day on the snow and it was all that was expected: yummy, warm, and powerful. Perfect end to a great day of boarding.

So here we are in 2010
One might protest that you can’t force two opposite things to mix… not so! Sometimes, the most opposite and un-combinable of things become the most wonderful! For example, oil and vinegar – put them together in a bottle and they won’t combine together for anything unless you continuously and vigorously shake them up. And yet, these two simple, yet irreconcilable substances become one of the most perfect salad dressings you can hope to find!
Another example, the letter ‘A’ is on the extreme opposite end of the alphabet from the letter ‘Z’. ‘A’ has it’s own characteristics and unique traits that ‘Z’ will never, ever possess (and vice versa) unless it becomes another letter altogether. Under the tragic instance that ‘A’ or ‘Z’ should become another letter they might be drawn closer together in the alphabet, but language as we know it would cease to exist and we’d end up in a very dismal place… Yet, from a different perspective, these two opposite letters are actually closer to each other than they ever could wish to be! Simply wrap the alphabet around and they align side by side.
Perhaps you can tell I haven’t had much sleep this week :) Or perhaps it’s a bit overwhelming for me to return to our blog and realize that since last February such an exorbitant amount of life has taken place that I have no idea how to jump back in! So, I’m not going to try just now, suffice to say that A&Z are back on the blog and life has brought us further along and closer together than ever.
Looking forward to continuing the journey with you!
